This hosting "company" is totally useless.
As mentioned above, they lock your domain with no dispute and no way to get it unlocked as their Tech Support is non-existant.
Terrible communications, and a very sly auto-renewal practice that tries to re-charge your credit card!!!
The worst bit being that, as you have no idea about this auto-renewal, you will soon receive a letter from a collection agency saying that solicitors are now involved!!!!!

DO NOT TRUST!
Appauling business practice.

WARNING CONCERNING 1&1:
They lock you from domains that are NOT in dispute. That is, according to ICANN, a violation of their agreement with them. Throwing all purchased domains into one �account� and disabling access to configurations for ALL domains (even when not in dispute, overdue, etc.) is supposedly not allowed. 1and1 does it all the time. Avoid at all costs and don't be lured into their private domain hell with cheap rates.

Don't believe what you read on their site. There is NO customer service. Not for billing, not for tech, not for anything.

1&1 used to be good at first but then it was down a lot, and their support was not helpful when we really needed it. The cpanel was hard and confusing when we used it.

Am currently using their 3-Year Free Professional Package (introductory promotion), which gives me Unix web hosting. With support for Perl 5, PHP, and a MySQL database, I am able to create dynamically-generated pages and provide web-based interfaces for controlling access to the website. The package normally goes for $9.99 a month and includes 3 domain names, which is a pretty good deal.

1 and 1 has excellent uptime, and they have a really easy to use Control Panel. I switched from my ISP and saved quite a bit of money (I was paying $25 per month). Now I am paying $9.95 per month and getting something way better. I recommend them.

I got 3 free years of webhosting from 1and1 a while ago when they were having their grand opening sale. I used to have my website hosted with Interland, but 1and1 is WAY better. First of all the control tools are easy to use and everything is there. Secondly they dont seem to have any problems with downtime. Thirdly the price is right :-)
