Hard to find a better deal!

$30 a year for a ton of storage and bandwidth (USE PROMO CODE '30AYEAR') and a free domain registration? I thought they were kidding. Decided to give a shot to use for developing a few domains I had around and I must say for the price I paid I was VERY HAPPY with dreamhost. Look, let's be honest for $30 a year, I knew I wasn't getting my own dedicated server but I didn't need much in the way of bandwidth and storage. Actually only used less than 1%. However I can say that my site , www.weathercontent.com is a bit of a resource hog and I have had trouble with other hosts becuase of CPU usage. When I transferred it to Dreamhost (Quite unexpectedly after muy other host threatened to pull the plug) I figured I would just leave it there a couple of days until I found a new host.

Well after a couple of days I got what I expected from Dreamhost support, a message saying my site was causing CPU usage problems. But then to my amazement they actually moved me to another server rather than disabling my site and I never had a problem again.

So here's my recommendation if you are looking for a low budget host for a small site or blog grab the promo code (30AYEAR) and give them a go. They offer a full 97 day guarantee anyway. If you are look to run a high traffic site then look somewhere else but for the other 99% of us Dreamhost will do just fine and save a buck in the process.

First, check this out http://www.dreamhost-sucks.com/

In my opinion, Dreamhost's business model is very despicable.
They lure you with 777 or other promotion code for one year. When your first year end, you'll be surprised to find
1. No more promotion code will be applied. This is confirmed by their staff, so don't DREAM about it.
2. Your annul charge become $120.
3. If you want to close your account, they will charge your a fee for each domain.
4. Transfering domain name out of it is very difficult. I followed all the instruction but their system still rejected transfer request.
5. There is no way you can indicate that you don't want to renew other than close the account immediately. You have to be sure you'll be there to close the account timely one year from now. Otherwise you'll be charged.
6.

Is their service a good $120 worth?
1. The webpanel isn't very easly to use. Comparing with cPanel, it lacks most of the usual functions. For example, I can't find a way to make a website password-protected.
2. Only 4 applications to be installed.
3. No shell acount access.
4. Instead of making webhosting more friendly, they seems to focus on writing those annoying newsletters about things no one is interested.

I think "MAXIMUM" below is a better code with the full $97 off.

Got a better dreamhost coupon
TRY90 "Dream Discounts" will give you $90 off
What a deal- Use it during signup

They are very reliable with good uptime. I've been with them for just about one year now. The customer support is average, though, at best. Their prices are really cheap for what they give you, and with coupons you can pretty much come out ahead. "777" and "888" don't work anymore, so you can probably use "40less" to get $40.00 off your sign-up fee.

Good luck!

After extensive research and a poor experience with a different hosting provider reviewed on this website; I finally chose Dreamhost...
They have been great so far (currently 2 months in), they have a great feature called 'one-click' which will automatically install any software from their free library onto your website. In addition, they were very prompt with all of my email support requests. I vote yes for DH

Opps, code for maximum discount should be "MAXIMUM" and not MAX.

Posted on Sep 13, 2005 by Kaprin

Just use MAX coupon code for the maximum discount possible ($97 on most plans)

Before I go any further, if you decide to use dreamhost use the promo code "SPRING" during signup for a hidden discount.

I've been using dreamhost now for quite some time, and I have really enjoyed hosting my site on there server. I haven't noticed any downtime, and the load times have been fast across the board. They've impressed me so much that a business site I recently contracted to do is also hosted on there. I would recommend them above any other host.

I have been with Dreamhost for a good 3 years now, starting with one website, and now 4. Since most people only leave comments when things go bad I thought it would be appropriate to leave a comment because things have been good.

To start with Dreamhost continues to add features to my hosting plan. The latest being Ruby on Rails, which I will probably never use, but its a nice to know if I ever need that feature it is there. They have also been increasing diskspace and bandwidth without charging extra - very nice.

Dreamhost has very knowledgeable technical support. They were able to help me when I couldn't get my WordPress script to connect to the database. Even better, a few weeks later they added a WordPress auto installer. I have had experience with other hosting companies who wouldn't lift a finger if the problem was more than fixing html. Dreamhost support is only email, which I thought might be a problem, however because they reply so quickly its better than waiting on hold for 15 minutes.

One final thing, Dreamhost has an easy to use referral program which makes getting that second and third website up and running a much easier decision. They are now discounting every new signup by $100, so basically you get the first year free. My Dreamhost review and experience has been positive, give them a try.

I have left a couple comments on this website but I will say Dreamhost has been a great webhost. They have good uptime and I havn't really had any email problems which I think is a common issue with alot of hosts.

The other thing that is good is they have alot of advanced features like Cronjobs and they have a few people in customer service that really know their stuff.
