Netfirms User ReviewsRead or Post Comments:Posted on Sep 12, 2006 by Allan Rock So Netfirms .. been with them for a year now ... pretty good host ... their tech support is hit or miss ... but you will never need that. They are rock solid ... and have most features anyone would need for a basic website ... My site is about 10 pages ... nothing fancy ... I will renew for another year Posted on Jun 08, 2006 by Donna Their service is total disaster. It's time to move on. Posted on May 23, 2006 by April Hi,I am having very bad problems with netfirms. I started hosting my website towards the end of last year. For the last 6 months, my website has been slow. Sometimes it never bothers loading, other times I get an operation timed out message. I've had customers to email me telling me they are unable to access the website. I've emailed them on and off for the whole time, and I've been told that the website loads fine. Finally, I called them today and spoke to someone that was very rude and blamed it all off on my computer. Basically, he told me that I should just tell everyone that can't access the website that it's their computer problem. I could understand that it might be my internet connection if it was just me. But I have tried accessing the website from different computers, had others emailing me saying that they can't access it, and my isp said since it's only that website I'm having problems with, that it is not the internet service. I did the run command on my computer and ping my website. I was given 100% lost. When I asked this guy for the website address of another website that netfirms hosted he refused to give it to me. I thought that most hosting companies want you to see websites that they host to show them off so to speak. I've thought of going to another hosting company as I am losing sales left and right over this. I think I am also going to go to the bbb about it. Any advice? Posted on Apr 13, 2006 by sandraQ Based on your review, we are now trying netfirms as a webhost, and this has been my experience in setting up a site that has multiple editors, wordpress, a store (cart system), and php icalendar. PROS: - Fast setup - Informative support area - WordPress was a one-click install - So was the shopping cart - Nice, user-friendly Control Panel - easy htaccess setup - easy stats access CONS: - FTP access (if using software local to computer like Fetch, Transmit, etc.) can only be used by ONE user at a time. - Support tickets are not recorded in the Control Panel (so don't loose those emails) - WordPress installs in mydomain.com/mywpdir/nfblog so you don't get a clean mydomain.com/mywpdir URL - Similar for the cart - You can only edit/access WordPress admin area from netfirms Control Panel - no WebDAV (so you have to host your .ics files for php icalendar elsewhere) Overall, it's a nice host, at a reasonable price. However this FTP one-person-at-a-time thing has been a head-ache for us because we have several people working on this project. Not having a backup of support tickets in the Control Panel is also a bummer. Posted on Mar 24, 2006 by Brian she's had one or two communication snags, where the program wasn't doing what she wanted and there was a back and forth a couple times before effective communication occured.I am writing because someone I told to visit her site came back to me saying she went to visit from her work,a corporate job,and her software blocked my wifes site, saying key-logging was occuring.I found this site while searching for other complaints against Netfirms. Thanks for the space for comment. Posted on Mar 20, 2006 by Viteli I have my site with netfirms for the past 3 years, and everything a A-OK. 20 thumbs up. They been upgrading my service plan ever since day one at no extra cost. 3 years ago I purchased the personal hosting service which at time was 500mb for 4.95/yr. Netfirms been upgrading my space, bandwidth and other features. Now I have 10gb on a personal plan for only 4.95/yr. That's a lot of space for me play with. I just know one thing only....I am not moving to another company, I am very happy here. Posted on Nov 26, 2005 by Brandon Myers I have been a Netfirms customer for a few years now with no complaints. They keep upgrading my plan without raising the price!!! I am on the Advantage plan and it now has 20GB of disk space and 750 GB of data transfer for only $9.95 a month. My hosting plan has more diskspace than my laptop now :-) Another new thing is they allow you to host multiple websites with a single account. This is really cool because I can develop new websites and play around with stuff without having to use some other free host. Ya this is getting almost as long as the Netfirms review ... but they are worth it. You really get your money's worth. So if you are unhappy with you current host or just thinking of getting a website Netfirms is probably the best choice out there. At least I'm a happy customer. Posted on Jul 31, 2005 by Neil Eisenberg I am a real fan of this company. Not only do they provide affordable hosting plans, but they have consistently improved and added to their services as their customers have requested enhanced offerings. Along with the basics: bandwidth, storage, e-mail accounts, cgi, perl, MySQL (!!) etc... they also give you free domain name registration, some great pre-installed open source tools (OSCommerce, WordPress, etc) all at a great price. What would I like to see? I would love to have ODBC access to the MySQL databases, and I guess root access would be great for setting up things like cron jobs, etc....but the truth is....this is a great deal. For 99% of my hosting projects, Netfirms is my choice. Yes, there are others that give you the same features, more or less, but add to the above a company that takes an active role in actually helping to PROMOTE businesses that host with them by referring, showcasing, and responding appropriately to concerns, and you have a winner! Posted on Mar 25, 2005 by InterWeb I have 2 sites hosted Netfirms for a few years now. All in all pretty good and I would recommend them .. Pros: Easy to use Members tool, good price! Cons: No toll-free support! Posted on Nov 14, 2004 by davidB I have been using Netfirms for almost a year for my homepage. I started building a website but then just started using the Pictured Pro photo gallery that was included. Everything is really easy to setup. They do seem to have email outages but it gets fixed rather quickly. Post a CommentHave you experienced this host? Have something to say good or bad? Post a comment! |
