We ended up using Miva Merchant at The Media Temple which we like much better. We also had concerns about email privacy and advertising all over the place so we move to private company like the MT.

I have been using Yahoo for years without any problems. They have been adding new features to their control panel and have always been "up". I even purchased an additional domain name from them for only $5. Some of my collegues have websites hosted with local providers and they all seem to experience downtime. That said Yahoo web hosting does cost more than what seems to be average. You get what you pay for?
